Type: Shimizuomyces_paradoxus Kobayasi. Etymology: In honour of Daisuke Shimizu, who was a Japanese botanist. Description: Stroma solitary, cylindrical to enlarging apically, arising from the seed buried in the leaf litter. Fertile part yellow to yellowish grey, cylindrical to clavate. Perithecia immersed, with ostioles slightly projecting, ordinal in arrangement, pyriform, ostioles greyish yellow green. Asci cylindrical, with caps thick. Ascospores hyaline, whole, filiform. Hosts: Seed plants.
