Type: Aciculosporium take I. Miyake. Description: Sexual morph: Ascostromata reddish-brown, pale brown, sessile, pulvinate. Perithecia immersed, oval or pyriform. Asci narrowly cylindrical, 8-spored. Ascospores filiform, hyaline, multiseptated. Conidiostromata whitish, pseudoparenchymatous, fusiform, forming irregular cavities, enclosed by leaf sheath, formed on shoot apices of the host. Conidiophores arising from the innermost cells of stomatal wall, hyaline, simple or branched, one-celled. Conidia on conidiostromata filiform, hyaline, 2–3 septate, slightly constricted at the septa, slightly obtuse at both ends. Culture on PDA slow growing, yeast-like. Conidia in culture holoblastic, hyaline, narrowly cylindrical to filiform, with apical branching appendages. Host: Plants. Notes: The description of Aciculosporium was based on A. take, which is designated as the neotype specimen by Tanaka et al. (2021).
