Description:

Pileus 25–70 mm, plano-convex, areolate, dry, velvety, becoming rimose at center, strong orange, unchanging when bruised, turning yellow with 3% KOH, unchanging with NH4OH, turning blue with FeSO4. Pore Surface light yellow, pores circular to angular, 1–2 per mm; tubes to 10 mm deep, unchanging with 3% KOH and NH4OH, turning blue with FeSO4. Stipe 30–50 mm long; 10–20 mm broad, insertion central, cylindrical or with a swollen base, solid, firm, dry, finely reticulate near the apex, strong orange, turning yellow with 3% KOH, unchanging with NH4OH, turning blue with FeSO4. Context white, soft, unchanging when bruised. Odor and taste unrecorded. Spore Print not observed. Basidiospores 5–7 × 3.5–5 µm; ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline, inamyloid. Hymenial cystidia 32–45 × 9–11 µm; lageniform to widely lageniform; occasionally mucronate; smooth or slightly roughened; golden yellow in 5% KOH. Pileipellis a partially gelatinized cutis of cylindric elements 2.5–12.5 µm wide; exserted ends cylindric with rounded apices; golden yellow in 5% KOH.
