Pterulicium xylogenum

Fungi > Basidiomycota > Agaricomycetes > Agaricales > Pterulaceae > Pterulicium

Description:

Basidiomes 8–17 × 10–15 mm, occurring gregariously, fasciculate to connate, typically forming dense clusters arising from a subiculum-like basal patch 15–30 mm in diameter. Habit erect, slender, simple, occasionally sparingly branched to densely bushy; coloration yellowish gray to dark grayish yellow; surface pruinose to powdery when dry. Stipe 0.2–0.5 mm thick, simple, cylindrical, rigid, smooth in dried condition, occasionally appearing anastomosed due to incomplete separation of initially connate stipes embedded within a white basal tissue covering. Branchlets organized in 2–6 successive tiers, with terminal branchlets frequently verticillate in arrangement, 1–4 mm wide, tapering into subulate, flexuous apices; axils ranging from subacute to acute.
