Habitat:
On twig and stems.
Host:
Hymenoptera (ant).
Description:
Three to five
stromata are usually present. A single stroma arises from dorsal pronotum. The other one to two stromata emerge from the joints between the pronotum and top of legs on right and left, variable in length, up to 35 mm in length, dark-brown at the base becoming light purple at the tip of the stroma. The fertile region of lateral cushion is hemispherical, dark-brown, darkening with age, variable in size, up to 2 mm diam. Ascomata semi-immersed, fusoid-ellipsoid with rounded ostioles, 325-500 × 275-300 mm, with ostioles slightly protruding on the surface of the plate.
Asci cylindrical, eight-spored, 200-340 × 7-10 mm.
Ascospores filiform, 200-215 × 2-3 mm, remaining whole after discharge. The asexual morph, Hisutella-A type produced laterally on upper stromata, phialide cylindrical, tapering to short neck, 9-10 mm long, up to 3-4 mm wide, conidia hyaline, cylindrical to narrow fusiform, 3.5-6.5 × 1-2 mm. Hisutella-C type produced from brown cushions (sporodochia) on the joint of legs and antennal joints, phialide slender cylindrical up to 30 mm, 3-5 mm wide and tapering to long, conidia hyaline, fusiform to narrowly lemoniform, averaging 9 × 5 mm.
