Description:

Stromata arising from the back of the head, slender, up to 12 mm long, dark brown at the base becoming light brown at the tip of the stroma. Fertile lateral cushion containing 
perithecia black to dark-brown. Perithecia fusoid-ellipsoid with rounded ostioles, 380–400 × 160–180 μm, with ostioles slightly protruding on the surface of the plate. 
Asci cylindrical, eight-spored, 140–190 × 7–8 μm. 
Ascospores lanceolate with tapering ends, 90–100 × 2–3 μm, multi-septate, remaining whole after discharge. Asexual morph: Hirsutella. 
Phialides up to 30 μm long, 2–3 μm wide. Conidia hyaline, smooth, fusoid, 3–5 × 2–3 μm.
Culture characteristics:
This is a fastidious species, cannot be cultured.
