Holotype:

THAILAND, Chiang Mai Province, 29 Oct. 2013, K. Tasanathai, P. Srikitikulchai, A. Khonsanit, W. Noisripoom, D. Thanakitpipattana, S. Watcharapayungkit, holotype BBH 38308, ex-type living culture BCC 69008.


Habitat:

Leaf litter.


Host:

On Lepidoptera larvae.


Description:

Stroma several, cylindrical, branched dentritic, 75–110 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, dark brown to black, sometimes with a sterile tip. Perithecia superficial, gregarious, distributed unequally on upper three-fourths of the stroma, ordinal in arrangement, narrowly ovoid, brown to dark brown, 990–1200 × 350–450 μm. Asci hyaline, cylindrical, 8-spores, 400–600 × 6–7.5 μm. Ascospores hyaline, whole, filiform, multi-septate, 470–660 × 1.5–2.5 μm.


Culture characteristics:

Colonies on PDA attaining a diam of 16–22 mm in 20 d, flat and velvety in the middle, light brown in the center and white funiculose growth at the periphery of the colony. Aerial mycelia dense on the edges of the colony. Conidiogenous cells mono- or polyphialidic, arising from hyphae laterally or terminally, hyaline, cylindrical to lanceolate, tapering gradually or abruptly into a long slender neck. Phialides 35–70 μm, base 22–40 × 3–5 μm, neck simple to branched, 12–37 × 1–2 μm, rough to warty, non-septate or sometimes septate below the phialide base. Conidia hyaline, 1-celled, smooth walled, oval to lemon shaped, 8–14 × 5–8 μm, embedded in a mucous sheath.
