Buried in soil.
Host:
On Termites.
Description:

Stromata solitary, simple, cylindrical, up to 10 cm long, 1–2 mm wide, brown, ca. 4–10 cm deep buried in the soil. The fungal stroma emerging from the segment between the prothorax and mesothorax of one of the termite pairs. Fertile part distinctly subterminal with asexual morph at apex, ca. 10 mm long, 2 mm wide. Asexual morph (Hirsutella-like) produced at the terminal part of the stroma, light brown to grey, composed of hyaline, parallel strands of septate hyphae.
Phialides arising from the hyphae along the terminal part of the stroma, 7–22 × 3–7 μm.
Conidia hyaline, ovoid, 5–8 × 3–4.5 μm. Sexual morph:
Perithecia superficial, ovoid, covering middle part of stroma, 270–320 × 140–180 μm.
Asci 8-spored, filiform, 81–137 × 5–9 μm with ascus caps, 3–4.5 × 4–5 μm.
Ascospores whole, filiform with septa, 55–78 × 2–2.5 μm.
Culture characteristics:

Colonies on PDA attaining a diam of 8.5 mm in 20 d at 25 °C, white to pale grey.
Conidiogenous cells monophialidic, arising singly from hyphae laterally, hyaline, tapering into slender neck, 14–28 × 2–4 μm.
Conidia hyaline, smooth, fusiform, arising from the apex of the neck, one celled, 6–11 × 1.5–3 μm.
