Holotype:

THAILAND.

Habitat:

Underside of leaves.

Host:

Camponotus saundersi (Hymenoptera: Formicinae).

Description:

Stromata arising from the back of the head, up to 15 mm long, dark brown at the base becoming pale purple at the tip of the stroma. One to three of brown fertile lateral cushion containing perithecia produced on the single stroma. Perithecia fusoid-ellipsoid with rounded ostioles, 280–320 × 160–180 μm, with ostioles slightly protruding on the surface of the plate. Asci cylindric, eight-spored, 80–160 × 6–7 μm. Ascospores lanceolate with tapering ends, 75–85 × 2–3 μm, multi-septate, remaining whole after discharge. Asexual morph: Hirsutella. Phialides up to 25 μm long, 2–3 μm wide. Conidia hyaline, smooth, fusoid, 2–3 × 1–2 μm.

Culture characteristics:

This is a fastidious species, cannot be cultured.
