Scale insect nymphs (Hemiptera).
Description:
Stroma flattened convex, thick in the center, margin acute, surrounded with red brown ostioles, very hard, brownish orange, up to 10 mm in diam and ca 3.5 mm high. Perithecium completely embedded, flask-shaped, up to 525 μm long, up tp 300 μm wide.
Asci cylindrical, slightly stout, 200-225 μm long (400-500 μm), 6-8 μm (8-10 μm) wide.
Ascospores divide into part-spores, cylindrical with rounded ends, hyaline, 7.5-10 μm long (3-6 μm), 1.5-2 μm wide (1.5 μm). The
perithecia and asci of Thai specimens were smaller than those described by Petch, which are shown in parentheses (1921).
