Description:

Pileus 30–70 mm in diameter, initially convex, expanding to plane and frequently infundibuliform with age; disc ornamented with concentrically arranged fibrillose squamules extending toward the margin; coloration yellowish-brown to greyish, overlaying a pallid to pale-yellow ground. Margin lacerate or fissile at maturity, bearing squamules congruent in color and texture with those at the disc. Lamellae decurrent, moderately close, 1–2 mm broad, yellow-brown to greyish, with entire and smooth edges. Stipe central to occasionally eccentric, 4–7 × 10–20 mm, cylindric and even, surface densely fibrillose, concolorous with pileus. Annulus lacking. Context white in both pileus and stipe, firm, coriaceous to subleathery in texture. Odor and taste not ascertained. Spore deposit white. Hyphal system of trama dimitic, consisting of generative and skeletal–ligative elements. Generative hyphae hyaline, thick-walled, with clamp connections, up to 9 µm broad; elongate, cylindrical, often expanded near the apical zone (up to 20 µm wide), tapering distally. Skeletal–ligative hyphae hyaline, thick-walled, to 15 µm broad, exceedingly long, frequently with 2–3 ramifying lateral branches, narrowing toward the apices. Pileus hyphae not observed. Basidiospores 6–7 × 3–3.5 µm, oblong to narrowly cylindrical, thin-walled, hyaline, inamyloid and non-dextrinoid. Basidia 20–23 × 4–6 µm, elongate-clavate, markedly attenuate toward the basal region, thin-walled, hyaline, bearing four sterigmata. Cystidia (cheilocystidia and pleurocystidia) not observed.
