Description:

Basidiomata medium-sized to large. Pileus 25–72 mm diameter, convex when immature, subumbilicate or infundibuliform when mature; margin regular or slightly waving-undate; surface dry, slightly to strongly velutinous, pruinose or not, rugose at margin, with centre rugose or not; strong orange yellow to light orange yellow, getting paler towards the margin. Lamellae decurrent with tooth; whitish cream, discolouring brown to dark brown when bruised; crowded, narrow. Stipe 22–52 × 6–18 mm, cylindrical; centrally attached; surface dry; strong orange yellow, concolourous with pileus or paler, often getting paler towards the top. Latex copious, sticky, white, unchanging when isolated; unchanging in contact with lamellae or within few minutes to half an hour turning light brown; taste mild. Context moderately thick in pileus; solid to stuffed in stipe; cream to pale yellow, turning brownish after cut; smell fishy; taste mild. Basidiospores 6.7 – 8.75 × 6.2 – 8.5 µm, subglobose; ornamentation amyloid; with rather sharp edges, forming a complete or incomplete, often irregular reticulum with rather small meshes, isolated warts occasionally present; strong amyloidity. Basidia 50 – 62.5 × 10 – 12.5 µm; clavate to subclavate; 4-spored, hyaline. Pleurolamprocystidia 75 – 100 × 7.5 – 10 µm, rather long and broad; subcylindrical, fusiform to subfusiform, arising from the subhymenium; moderately to very abundant, thick-walled, pale yellow to yellow. Pleuropseudocystidia not observed. Lamellae-edge fertile, composed of basidia and cheilocystidia. Cheilocystidia 75 – 90 × 5 – 8.75 µm, thin-walled and hyaline to thick-walled, fusiform to subfusiform, subclavate or somewhat irregularly shaped; acuminate or with obtuse apex; sometimes with wavy outline, hyaline to pale yellow. Pileipellis a lampropalisade; subpellis, composed of rounded to elongated or irregularly shaped, thick-walled cells 7.5 – 20 µm wide, branch, septate, yellow to pale brown. Stipitipellis 6.25 – 12.5 µm wide, branch, septate, yellow to pale brown, mycelium pale brown to brown on surface.
