Holotype:

THAILAND, Ranong Province, Naka Wildlife Sanctuary, 10 Jan. 2006, L.T. Hung, S. Mongkolsamrit, P. Srikitikulchai, K. Tasanathai, B. Tongnuch, W. Tongsridam, holotype BBH 17344, ex-type living culture BCC 20309.

Habitat:

Underside of bamboo leaves.

Host:

Scale insects (Hemiptera).

Description:

Stroma circular, flattened-discoid, yellow at first through orange to dark orange; convex in teleomorph to concave in anamorph, up to 8 mm diam, 1.5-2 mm high, margin undulate, base slightly constricted internally hyaline to whitish-coloured. Hypothallus membranous, slight or thick, 0.5-1 mm thick, pale yellow. Perithecia crowded, immersed, 380-500 × 170-220 mm, elongate flask-shaped, ostioles slightly projecting, translucent dark red-brown. Asci 8-spored, up to 180 mm long, 10-12 mm wide. Ascospores whole, non-fragmenting, 130-150 × 1.5-2 mm, blunt at upper end tapering to the tail. Conidiomata pycnidial, ostioles dark orange-brown, ca. 100 mm diam, embedded in stroma, scattered or circular, flattened globose 200-390 mm high 300-400 mm diam. Phialides slender, narrow, cylindrical, up to 65 × 1.5 mm. Pycnidial paraphyses present, linear, filiform, flexuous, up to 220 mm long, 2 mm wide. Conidia fusoid to narrowly fusiform, with acute ends, 12.5-15 × 2.5-3.8 mm.

Culture characteristics:

Colonies on PDA slow-growing, attaining a diam of 8–10 mm in 4 wk. Stromatic colonies pale yellow to yellowish orange, forming compact weft. Conidial masses, yellow to orange-yellow produced around the margin of the stromatic colonies, after ca 4 wk.
