Ganoderma tropicum

Description:

Basidiome sessile, dimidiate. Pileus semicircular to dimidiate, occasionally forming conk-like basidiocarps, measuring 7–12 cm in length, 4–8 cm in breadth, and up to 1.5 cm thick. Pileus surface strong brown, moderate reddish brown to dark reddish orange; underside of the basidiocarp dark greyish yellow, deep-strong orange yellow at the margin. Surface glabrous, weakly to strongly laccate, glossy to highly shiny, smooth, spathulate, and shallowly sulcate in multiple concentric layers; consistency distinctly furrowed, thicker at the base than at the margin, covered by a thin but hard crust; basidiome light in weight when desiccated. Context trimitic, comprising irregular cuticular elements; coloration predominantly light yellow to yellow adjacent to the crust, becoming grayish-yellow to brown or dark brown near the tube layer. Context dense and compact, markedly thicker near the basal portion, tough and resistant to fracture upon drying. Hymenophore grayish-yellow.
