Description:

Basidiocarp annual, mostly stipitate, rarely sessile or only with a short base, corky. Pileus 155–175 × 105–115 mm, up to 20 mm thick, flabellate, reniform, dimidiate; upper surface orange-yellow, red-brown; margin obtuse or not, white to orange-yellow. Pore surface cream when young, becoming straw or pale brown with age; tubes up to 11 mm long, pale brown or brown; pores circular or subcircular, 6–8 per mm. Stipe when present 25 × 30 mm flattened or subcylindrical lateral, orange-yellow to red-brown. Context 1–15 mm thick, yellow-brown to dark brown, sometimes with melanoid substances, corky; generative hyphae 2–5 µm in diam., colorless, thin-walled, with clamp connections; skeletal hypae 4–7 µm in diam., yellow brown to red-brown in 5% KOH, dextrinoid; binding hyphae of bovista-type, 1–2 µm in diam., few, colorless, thick-walled, much-branched. Basidiospores 7.5–8.75 × 10–12.5 µm, ovoid to ellipsoid, brown to dark brown and thick-walled, smooth surface. Basidia not observed. Pileipellis 5.5–12.5 × 12–40 µm, cutis in structure, and clavate.
