Description:
Stromata epibiotic, pulvinate, subglobose, globose, white to pinkish white, becoming dark brown when old, 3-6 mm wide, 2-3 mm thick.
Perithecia semi-immersed, with slightly protruding orifices, obpyriform, 250-320 × 100-120 μm.
Asci cylindrical up to 250 μm. long and 3-4 μm. wide, Asci caps 2-3 × 3-4 μm.
Ascospores hyaline, whole, filiform, multi-septate, 95-135 × 1 μm.
Culture characteristics:
Colony on PDA attaining a diam of 3.5–4 cm in 14 d, slightly convex to the agar surface, white, reverse light yellow. Phialides arising from aerial hyphae, solitary, cylindrical, slightly curved, up to 120 μm long, 1–2 μm wide. Conidia hyaline, enteroblastic, fusiform to acerose, early in development aseptate, developing 1-4 septa, aggregated at the apex of the phialides, 8–30 × 2–3.5 μm.
