Habitat:
Underside of a dicotyledonous leaf
Host:
Spider (Araneae).
Description:
Spider host covered with dense white to cream mycelia. Numerous synnemata arising on legs of spider, erect, up to 1.5 mm long and ca. 100–120 μm wide. Conidiophores usually forming verticillate branches with
phialides in whorls of two to five. Phialides 7–12 × 2.5–3 μm, with a cylindrical to ellipsoidal basal portion, tapering into a distinct neck, 1–4 × 1–1.5 μm.
Conidia in chains, hyaline, mostly ellipsoidal, fusiform, 1-celled, 3–6 × 1.5–2 μm.
Culture characteristics:
Colonies on PDA slow-growing, ca 1.5 cm diam in 14 d at 25 °C, white, with high mycelial density, reverse deep yellow. Prostrate hyphae smooth, septate, hyaline, 2–3 μm diam. Conidiophores erect arising from the aerial hyphae and prostrate hyphae. Phialides solitary or in clusters of two to three. Phialides 10–22 × 1–2 μm, with cylindrical to ellipsoidal basal portion, tapering into a thin neck, 1–3 × 1 μm. Conidia in chains, hyaline, ellipsoidal or fusiform, 1-celled, 2–4 × 2–3 μm. Chlamydospores and synnemata not observed.
